Adobe Acrobat Reader Alternative
| If you are like me, you hate software applications that seem to grow bigger and slower with each new release. This seems to be the case with Adobe Reader. The latest, version 8, is over 20MB in size and allow it fixes the error messages that version 7 was creating on most of my customers machines, it still is very slow. Adobe created a proprietary format called Portable Document Format (PDF), and until the last couple years, there were no alternatives that could read and write PDF files. However, recently a few companies have created free PDF creation software. Competition is indeed good, and a company named Foxit Software has released a PDF creation tool called Foxit PDF Creator, along with a free reader. The PDF Creator is priced affordably at $35.00 versus the Adobe Acrobat product priced at over $200.00. The PDF reader is outstanding! Its fast and has all the features you need to open and print PDF files. |
